In the Applying Education Technology course, I learned how to maintain the level of engagement and involvement that I had during the summer while teaching full-time. During the summer, I had the time to be able to participate in all the class discussions, read the required text, write all assignments, and even read extra recommended books because I was not teaching full-time and having to create plans for two new classes. Now that I have much less time, I have to be more intentional with the time I devote to this class. I am learning that I have to plan how I want to accomplish the things I talk about in this class and many times my plans time take a back seat to the daily lessons, working with students, grading, lesson planning, and a newly added paperwork in our Professional Learning Communities (PLC). I repeatedly have to find a way to fit in the work in the master’s program with my teaching duties in a twenty-four-hour period. Having an Innovation Plan is just the beginning, but now I have to juggle the daily tasks while still keeping my “why” that helps me keep things in perspective.
Overall, this class has helped me understand the importance and value of having a professional blog, not a personal blog, and the required references and necessary information that make your work credible and valuable to others.
