Instructional Design
Course Overview
This video introduces a hybrid learning experience that blends in-person, virtual, and self-paced activities to help you build your own digital portfolio. You’ll learn in different ways—working with teachers and classmates, exploring ideas online, and making progress at your own pace.
Your ePortfolio is a personal space to showcase your best work, reflect on your growth, and set learning goals. No matter where or how you're working, this approach gives you voice, choice, and ownership of your learning journey.
-
In-Person Learning: During face-to-face class time, you'll get hands-on support from your teacher, collaborate with classmates, and receive direct feedback to help guide the creation of your ePortfolio.
-
Virtual Learning: Through online lessons and activities, you’ll explore new tools, access resources, and connect with peers in flexible ways that support your portfolio development from anywhere.
-
Self-Paced Learning: You'll have dedicated time to work independently—choosing what to include, reflecting on your progress, and customizing your ePortfolio to highlight your personal growth and achievements.

Implementation Overview: Student ePortfolios
In my hybrid learning model, the first in-person session introduces students to the essential questions: What is an ePortfolio? and why is it valuable? Through examples and guided discussion, students will explore how ePortfolios capture learning, growth, and personal achievement over time.
This session emphasizes group discussion and self-reflection, encouraging students to share ideas and begin writing their first reflective blog post. These reflections help students define their goals and understand the purpose of their portfolio.
Students will use a Learning Management System (LMS), in this case Canvas, to access materials, submit reflections, and stay organized. They will also have access to prerecorded video tutorials that walk them through the process of creating and personalizing their ePortfolio at their own pace.
This blended approach builds a strong foundation for authentic, student-driven learning. If you would like to preview the Canvas Course I created, you need to search "Wix ePortfolio - 11 & 12 grades" in Canvas Commons.

Documenting the process for usability testing has allowed me to reflect and discover obstacles I have had to overcome. These tools helped me identify changes that needed to be made to my design for a more effective implementation of blended learning.
